This hands-on course teaches you to recognize life-threatening emergencies, deliver high-quality CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking — both on your own and as part of a coordinated resuscitation team.
Nurses, physicians, EMTs, paramedics, dental and medical office staff, nursing and medical students, firefighters, lifeguards, and anyone whose job or program requires an AHA BLS card.
High-quality CPR: compressions and ventilations for adults, children, and infants
AED use: early defibrillation for adults, children, and infants
Ventilation: pocket masks and bag-mask devices
Team resuscitation: two-rescuer CPR, roles, and effective team communication
Choking relief: for responsive and unresponsive adults, children, and infants
Chain of Survival: rapid recognition and activation of the emergency response system
Instructor-led, with most of the class spent practicing on manikins. You'll show your skills in hands-on scenarios and finish with a written exam.
Upon successful completion of the skills test and written exam, you'll receive an American Heart Association BLS Provider eCard, valid for 2 years.
