Daniel grew up in South America, where a lifelong connection to remote and rugged landscapes first took root. That connection deepened during his time working as a high-altitude mountain guide, whitewater raft guide, and Christian missionary in the Amazon rainforest of Ecuador — experiences that put him face-to-face with the real risks of operating far from definitive medical care. In 2011, he began teaching wilderness medicine, translating his fieldwork and clinical training into practical, real-world instruction for those who work and adventure in remote settings. He continues to serve as a volunteer with search and rescue. Drawing on this foundation, Daniel transitioned into the fire service, becoming a paramedic at a high-volume fire department, where he sharpened his skills in emergency medicine under pressure. With over 20 years of experience spanning South America's backcountry, structural firefighting, and technical rescue, Daniel founded Wilderness Rescue Medicine to equip individuals and teams with the skills and confidence to respond effectively when help is far away.

Brandon Woodruff is experienced in emergency medicine, critical care, and caring for people in the outdoors. He has worked in a variety of paid and volunteer positions including Search & Rescue / Rope Technician, Advanced EMT, Registered Nurse, Flight Nurse, & Clinical Educator. Brandon understands the gear and interventions that are going to make a difference in the backcountry setting. He can easily break down concepts into lessons that matter most when resources are limited. Brandon holds a BA in Spanish Language & BS in Nursing as well as several industry standard certifications. Brandon has been the lead educator on courses including Wilderness First Aid, Stop the Bleed, AHA BLS/ACLS/PALS, Transition to Practice for RN's, Prolonged Casualty Care, HALO, and various high-fidelity simulations for medical professionals and lay rescuers.

I love anything you can do outdoors particularly as it ties to Christian experiential education. I've always had an interest in wilderness medicine as a means to mitigate risk and care for others in remote locations. My passion for adventure was fueled by living in Mexico for several years and deepened through studying Outdoor Education at Montreat College in North Carolina. I then moved to Spokane for Peak 7 Adventures and have stayed in the PNW since and now call Sandpoint, Idaho home. I've completed several Wilderness First Responder courses and achieved my EMT certification in February of 2026 in pursuit of a career in
